About this mod
"Don't you know anything about the rhythm of battle? Dum-de-de-dum or bop-bitty-doo-wop. In battle, the enemies' movements all have a particular rhythm. You can use that rhythm to your advantage. Do it right and you can get up to a 16 chain attack. I call this the.... Ta da! Sound Battle."
Basic attacks become a rhythm chain. Land your presses on the beat of the battle music and the chain keeps going - up to 16 hits, MOTHER 3-style, with the authentic damage curve and its spikes on hits 8, 12 and 16. Land all sixteen and the crowd goes up. Miss one and it's over.
Your party's emotions also change the difficulty. SAD widens the timing window, HAPPY tightens it, ANGRY drifts the beat under you, and AFRAID stops you from comboing at all.
28 battle themes come mapped - regular encounters, most bosses, and the back half of the game.
Want to map something yourself? The maps are plain text. BPM, offset, loop points, exact hit patterns, per-song timing windows - 51 directives, all documented in the included template, plus a BPM analyser in the console for doing some of the measuring.
There's a debug HUD with the beat lane, your timing error and a live calibration readout. Off by default, because you probably don't want it.
If it feels consistently late or early, that could be your audio latency rather than the map - there's a timing offset slider for exactly that. Anything weirder, tell me on one of the modding Discord servers.

Requirement(s): Mod Configs REDUX by Snek/Sierra - optional, but without it you're stuck with plugin parameters instead of an in-game menu
-
Pairs with: MOOD SWING - its damage dip is phase-neutral, so the music bends when you get hit without knocking the beat out from under your combo. They were built to run together.
-
Compatibility: Doesn't touch save files, add or remove it whenever. Fine alongside other battle mods unless they also rewrite basic attacks, in which case may the best plugin win.
Developed as part of the Lost & Found project, a collection of mods that (will hopefully) add and restore content to OMORI, whilst not messing with the final design.
